The Soloist: the movie

The movie, "The Soloist," is the Los Angeles version of Mumbai.  With 90,000 homeless concentrated in the  Dante-like skid row area, an actual  newspaper columnist befriends a helpless gifted musician.

Ravishing imagery contrasts gleaming life in L. A. with the chaos of skid row.  Reality, as depicted in the Steve Lopez book, was changed by the film's director to make a more evocative movie.  In the process he portrayed the columnist with as almost as many problems as the person he is wanting to help.

Bring Kleenex.  You will sob!

Am not in a "bring kleenex" mood right now I must say, but I have read enough about this movie to feel like I want to see it! Maybe sometime later this month.
