Stephen Hull: Balcony

When entering the exhibit I was startled and then delighted.  My motion had activated the room- sized sculpture to start moving.

I have come to know that the most evocative art will be at the Rosamund Felson Gallery.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosamund_Felsen_Gallery

"AVEDON: Women"

This powerful exhibition of photographs can be viewed through December 21, 2013 at http://www.gagosian.com/.  Most of the more than 100 gelatin prints were editioned and printed during his lifetime.  Seeing it is a special and rare opportunity.

Jeffrey Gibson Exhibit at Bergamont Station

The beat of the  American Indian culture is immediately felt when entering the exhibit.  This becomes clear when learning that Jeffrey Gibson is a member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and half Cherokee.  These gorgeous abstracts are painted on deer hide and are faceted in every way.  They sing like brilliant jewels.

Thanks to the Shoshanna Wayne Gallery http://www.bergamotstation.com/gallery.php?id=109266&bg=shoshana-wayne-gallery# for allowing me to photograph and share these images of the paintings.

Herb Alpert's Sculpture

I felt as though I was dancing when photographing this Herb Alpert sculpture in Santa Monica.  Seems appropriate as he is the well-known musician, artist and philanthropist. http://www.sculptsite.com/sculpture-headlines-Herb-Alpert-07-25-10.html

Los Angeles Antiques, Art & Design Show

Upon entering this show, it is obvious the air is rarefied. It is no wonder this is heralded as one of the premiere fairs in the United States.  Small and carefully selected---until everything there seems the most exquisite.

The show continues through this weekend, ending on Sunday.  It is located at 3Labs, 8461 Warner Drive, Culver City, CA 90232.

Art for Art's Sake at the Weisman

Wow!  When entering the galleries one is immediately struck by the sheer beauty of the art.  This is not the day for Minimalism or Conceptual art.   Today,  just enjoy being surrounded by the glorious colors shapes.  That is what the artists intended.  They are all part of the 19th-century Aesthetic Movement.

Giles Lyon, PHOENIX, 2002, Acrylic on canvas
Stephanie Patton, CENTER PIECE, 2011, Vinyl, batting and muslin

David Ryan, LHC, 2008, Acrylic, and flashe on Corafoam

El Matador Beach

Our late daughter brought us here for a picnic the last time she came to visit.

Quite naturally, we wanted to be here again, at sunset, on the date of her birthday.

Being here inspires spirituality.

It is a background for love.

It is a perfect setting for bidding adieu to the day and beautiful memories.

Los Angeles Modern Auctions

Being included in a special preview of this auction was an exciting privilege.  Now, I cannot wait to attend the auction itself beginning at noon.  Click to this link for more information:   https://www.google.com/search?q=Los+Angeles+Modern+Auctions+&oq=Los+Angeles+Modern+Auctions+&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l2j69i60l2j0.11008j0&sourceid=chrome&espvd=210&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8
