Lady Gaga Moves to Malibu

I sure hope I will recognize her, if I see her at the market.

"The Goldfinch"

I just finished reading all 771 pages of "The Goldfinch," and wished it was twice as long.  Inside the book jacket it claimed, "...beautiful, stay-up-all-night-and-tell-your-friends triumph."  I agree. www.washingtonpost.com/.../the-disappointing-novel-.

Jazz Musicians Inspire Life Drawing Students

During a recent visit to LACMA www.lacma.org/‎, I happened on these art students drawing jazz musicians.  Tyler Azelton was singing to the bass of John Graves.  It was set in the gallery exhibiting John Altoon's work.  He was said to have taught life drawing this way.

Seeing the paintings exhibited in this show at the Los Angeles County Museum of  Art was an opportunity that would have been impossible to duplicate.  Fortunately for the viewers, it was a beautiful education.  The verve of the brushstrokes and the vivacity of the colors heralded the courageous art that would follow.

Dazzling Night at the Hollywood Bowl

What dazzled most last night at the Hollywood Bowl?  Was it the debut performance of violinist Simone Porter, or, LA Philharmonic's finish of their rendition of  "Appalachian Spring" with fireworks?

Birthday Dance and Party for 90-Year-Old Dancer

Please share this video to celebrate Jean Veloz's 90th birthday dance and party.  It is almost up to one million shares and would be another great present.  Although, dancing every dance at that age is gift enough, don't you think?

UPDATE:  Yay!  Thanks to everyone involved, this video has 1 million shares and more.  (Someone call Ellen DeGeneres).

The Hundred-Foot Journey Official Trailer (2014) HD

Treat yourself to a food feast without gaining a single pound, by seeing "The Hundred-Foot Journey."  It was special seeing the first showing at our small movie house in Malibu.  When the audience applauded at the end it felt like a theater experience.

"The Eternal Wonder"

I am not going to lie, when confessing that it took me three tries to get into reading Pearl Buck's, "The Eternal Wonder."  This saga of the life-long questioning of a brilliant person left me questioning my own intelligence.  But, finally, Buck's great writing started to flow for me.  Then, I couldn't put it down.  In one sentence, I can say, "it is about so much more than the story."  Written by this Novel-Prize-winning author, it is filled with importance.

Gallery Hopping in Los Angeles

It is always fun to be with an art loving friend when racing around to see as much as art as possible
during the openings.  She was able to get us to many of the wide-spread and disparate galleries in the La Brea and La Cienega area of Los Angeles.
